Manual Handling Refresher – Annual Update
FirstAidPro’s Manual Handling refresher course is a yearly update and refresh of the HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely certificate, which participants must have previously completed to take part.
The course is recommended (and often required) for any staff whose role involves physically moving and handling clients. It should be taken on a yearly basis by staff in such roles, including (but not limited to) physiotherapists, student nurses (pre-placement), health and nurse aides, nurses, ambulance staff, occupational therapists, medical staff and people working with the aged or disabled in the community.
Our Manual Handling course (and the annual refresher) is recognised throughout Australia and provides the specialised knowledge and skills to allow a healthcare worker to provide direct care to clients in a nursing, health, aged care, or home care context. The course is particularly focused on the safety of workers, the well-being of the client, and the benefit to the community around.
The Manual Handling refresher doesn’t require any online assessment or e-Learning – all assessment tasks are set and completed during the course.
According to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, the course counts towards continuing professional development hours for nursing and midwifery roles.
As a recognised Australian RTO (#40407), FirstAidPro takes great pride in providing students with both friendly, highly experienced instructors and top-quality training.
Our manual handling training – and the manual handling refresher course – are both conducted at our Gold Coast training facility. The venue is equipped with a full range of manual handling equipment, including hospital beds, hoists, slide sheets and more. This allows students to practice and demonstrate manual handling skills safely, using industry-standard equipment. Our instructors also work hard to make courses informative and fun, with a hands-on approach and plenty of practical examples.
The course is particularly geared toward those working in hospital and residential roles, such as aged care workers, health workers, nurses, and support staff. And our courses closely follow all relevant state and territory legislation related to the topic, such as the hazardous manual tasks code of practice.
