HLTAID012 
Provide First Aid in an education and care setting teaches effective First Aid management as relevant to children and infants. 

As well as teaching all the conditions of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, those more likely to be experienced in infants and children like febrile convulsion, vomiting, dehydration and diarrhoea are also included.  

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting is taught in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and is Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) approved. 

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting leads to an accredited and industry recognised Childcare First Aid and CPR qualification in:

  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid 
  • HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

How do I get qualified for Childcare First Aid?

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an education and care setting is an even combination of knowledge (theory) and practical (skills).

The knowledge requirements are assessed in-class when completing the Face-to-Face course.

The knowledge requirements are assessed online when completing the Learning Online course.

Please note: Practical assessment is completed in-class for both courses as practical skills must be displayed in the presence of a qualified first aid trainer.

 

How do I do Childcare First Aid Face-to-Face?

The ‘standard’ way to complete a Childcare First Aid course, Face-to-Face training, is exclusively classroom-based. No assessment needs to be done out of hours or online as both the knowledge and practical assessment are completed in a 6.5-hour session led by a trusted local Childcare First Aid trainer.

Childcare First Aid Training Requirements 

HLTAID012 Provide First Aid is an entry-level course available to students of all backgrounds and experience levels. 

It is an accredited and practical course, though, so all we ask is that you can:

  • Prove you are over 18
  • Provide guardian or parental consent if under 18 (must be at least 14)
  • Confirm you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident 
  • Read and write 
  • Communicate verbally with others
  • Perform basic manual tasks
