Having the knowledge to identify an emergency situation and the skills to apply the correct first aid management procedure are the two key elements of effective first aid management. 

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid incorporates the knowledge and skills of more than 25 of the most frequent first aid injuries (including their signs, symptoms and management) so you can provide effective first aid management anywhere, anytime. 

All first aid management procedures covered in HLTAID011 Provide First Aid are in line with Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and other relevant Australian national peak clinical bodies like Safe Work Australia, the National Asthma Council, the Epilepsy Foundation and Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA).

How do I get qualified for First Aid?

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is a mix of knowledge (theory) and practical (skills).

If you complete the Face-to-Face course, you will be assessed on the knowledge requirements in class.

If you complete the Learning Online course, you will be assessed on the knowledge requirements online.

Practical assessment is completed in-class for both courses as you must be observed performing your first aid skills by a registered trainer. 

How do I do First Aid Learning Online?

Students do their knowledge assessment independently online before finishing the course by doing the practical assessment in class with a certified local first aid trainer. The duration of the in-class session is condensed because the knowledge assessment has already been done.

First Aid Training Requirements 

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is an entry-level course available to students of all backgrounds and experiences. 

It is an accredited and practical course though, so all we ask is that you can:

• Prove you are over 18
• Provide guardian or parental consent if under 18 (must be at least 14)
• Confirm you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident 
• Read and write 
• Communicate verbally with others
• Perform basic manual tasks.
