HTLAID003 Provide first aid is the benchmark first aid course covering the 3 core modules needed for industry compliance.

The course is a mandatory requirement for many workplaces but is suitable for students, parents and individuals to gain the skills and confidence needed to take decisive action in an emergency situation. Nobody knows when a medical emergency will arise but being trained in First Aid and being able to step up as a first responder can save lives. Providing some attempt at resuscitation is better than no attempt and can dramatically increase a person’s chance of surviving and recovering from a medical emergency.

Sunshine Coast First Aid facilitators are highly experienced and create a safe and fun learning environment. With lots of practical examples and demonstrations, the course provides you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to assess, help and manage a casualty until professional help arrives.

HLTDAID003 Provide first aid replaces the following first aid courses - Apply First Aid and Senior First Aid. HLTAID003 Provide first aid meets all Australian government requirements for first aid in the workplace and the community first aider. Our courses are nationally recognised and accredited with ASQA, and the qualification gained is equivalent to St Johns and Red Cross courses.

First Aid Course Duration 

HLTDAID003 Provide first Aid is a 6-hour course taught face to face with our experienced and friendly facilitators. Skills are assessed throughout the course and all participants will be required to demonstrate their CPR skills on a floor-based manakin for a period of at least two minutes.

No Online Workbook or E-learning Required

Sunshine Coast First Aid like to keep all your dealings with us easy and stress-free. There are no online tests to complete prior to the course, but it will be necessary to undertake some pre-course reading. The pre-course reading requirement is accompanied by a short quiz which you can fill out as you progress through the reading material. Completed quiz papers must be submitted on the day of the course and are necessary for successful course completion.

The study time taken to complete the quiz will vary based on the participants prior learning and knowledge.

First Aid Certificate

Sunshine Coast First Aid will issue your First Aid accreditation documents via email on the day of your training. However, in order to issue your certification, you will need to provide us with your USI number (see below for more information on USI’s (Link) and have completed the pre-course reading quiz. Failure to provide these may result in a delay in issuing your certification.

Paper copies of your certificate are available upon request and can be purchased for $12.00 each including postage.

USI Requirements

From January 1, 2015, all students undertaking a nationally accredited VET course need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number. Just like your tax file number, a USI number is unique to you. The USI number is used to keep an online transcript of all accredited VET training and qualifications so all your records can be quickly and easily accessed in the one location.

  • How to apply the DRSABCD protocol
  • CPR for adults, children and infants
  • How to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED)
  • Drowning and choking
  • Medical emergencies:
    • Asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures. heart attack, stroke and diabetes
  • First Aid management:
    • Bleeding injuries, burns, fractures and soft tissue injuries
  • Bites and stings management:
    • Snakes, spider bites and sea creatures
  • Spinal management:
    • Head, neck and spinal injuries
  • Managing heat and cold conditions:
    • Dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, hypothermia and hyperthermia
  • Assessing and moving a casualty:
    • Head to toe examination
  • Follow relevant procedures for recording first aid:
    • Verbal handover and incident report writing

Australian College of Nursing (ACN)

Our Provide First Aid course (HLTAID004) is both nationally accredited (RTO 40407) and endorsed by the Australian College of Nursing (ACN). It qualifies for 6 hours of continual professional development (CPD) by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia so you can be assured of the quality and integrity of the training we provide.
