HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support

Provide BELS is a 4-hour classroom-based, practical course. All students will be required to perform CPR for at least two minutes using a floor-based manakin.

HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support is perfect for teachers and students who need the practical skills and confidence required to be a first responder. No one knows when an emergency will strike so being able to provide basic life saving skills can save lives and dramatically increase a casualty’s chance of survival. The course includes basic life support (BELS), CPR and AED (defibrillator) in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Provide BELS is a 4-hour classroom-based, practical course. All students will be required to perform CPR for at least two minutes using a floor-based manakin.

No Online Workbook or E-learning Required

First Aid Sunshine Coast do not require you to undertake any online tests prior to the course. Instead, participants will need to fulfil some pre-course reading requirements and complete a short quiz. The quiz can be filled out whilst reading through the course material and must be submitted on the day of your training. The study time required to complete the quiz varies based on the individual’s different knowledge and prior learning.

First Aid Certificate 

Sunshine Coast First Aid will issue all course certificates on the day of the training subject to the following conditions:

  • All students need to provide their USI number (see below for USI information) 24 hours prior to the course commencement.
  • All students need to submit their pre-course reading quiz.
  • All students need to satisfactorily complete a 2-minute CPR demonstration using a manakin.
Failure to supply your USI or pre-course reading may result in a delay in issuing your certification.

USI Requirements 

A USI (unique student identifier) is a government-issued student number that is used to keep a secure online record of all your training and qualifications from 1st January 2015.

A USI number is unique to each individual and if you have undertaken any accredited VET training courses since 2015 it is likely you already have a USI number.

Australian College of Nursing (ACN) 

HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support course qualifies for 4 hours of CPD as determined by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and is fully endorsed by the ACN (Australian College of Nursing).

This 5 hour course will provide you with an understanding of how to apply immediate care of an injured or suddenly sick casualty be that first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until more advanced medical help arrives. Appropriate for a wide range of situations including the workplace, home or neighbourhood.
